Balanced Experience.

Fresh Perspective.

The law belongs to all of us.

Balanced Experience

Justice should feel like justice, no matter who you are.
For nearly two decades, Alexia Davis Payne has fought for that principle in Richmond and Burke County courtrooms. Graduating from Tulane Law School, she began her career in the Augusta Office of the Public Defender. Now in private practice, Alexia handles criminal defense and a variety of family law cases that shape children’s futures. She understands how the legal system can either lift people up or break them down. Alexia brings both competitive drive and steady calm to the courtroom, but what defines her most is ensuring every person gets treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their story or resources.

Fresh Perspective

Law should not be a weapon to divide the community.  It should be used as a tool to protect and provide opportunities to restore when possible.

Augusta’s Superior Court often touches people’s lives at their most vulnerable moments. Alexia understands what’s at stake from a career spent serving the people of this circuit.

“I’ve stood beside people for 20 years when everything was on the line, making sure they got a fair trial and their rights were protected. I’ve fought for parents who deserved an equal shot at staying in their children’s lives and I’ve represented the injured who deserved the same justice as anyone with more resources. Our community deserves a judge who has been in all these situations, fighting for fairness in every one of them. That’s balanced experience.”

– Alexia Davis Payne

Together, we will build a court that Augusta and Waynesboro can be proud of.

"This bench has seen the courtroom from only one angle for far too long. I've spent my career representing people who walk in scared, overwhelmed and hoping someone will listen. A court that serves everyone needs a judge who has served everyone." - ALEXIA DAVIS PAYNE

A transformative vision for Superior Court.

Address Root Causes to Reduce Recidivism: Education, Economics, and Addiction
  • Courthouse to Career: Alexia will partner with schools and employers to create job opportunities that improve financial stability for families, breaking cycles of poverty and crime.
  • Expand Treatment Court Access: Augusta has the lowest number of treatment court participants compared to similarly sized circuits in Georgia. Alexia will actively eliminate judicial obstacles to Accountability Court participation and expansion, giving people battling addiction a real path to recovery.
Improve Access to Justice
  • Reduce Case Backlogs: Victims deserve closure. The accused deserve their day in court. Alexia will work to eliminate unnecessary delays so justice isn’t delayed for anyone.
  • Address Jail Overcrowding: Reduce overcrowding for those charged with low-level, nonviolent offenses, ensuring jail space is reserved for those who pose a genuine public safety risk while reducing taxpayer costs to house inmates.
